Hi [FIRSTNAME],
January was a great month and a great start to the year. I am really looking forward to the adventure to come this year! The surf this winter finally turned around and started getting good in January. I am happy about that because I really wanted to spend most my time in the water this month!
I have gotten so many good waves and good sessions this month so stoked!
I was a bit disappointed earlier this month. I had planned to go to Mammoth for a snowboarding trip with one of my best friends, but I ended up canceling due to lack of snow!
It worked out though because right when I was supposed to leave for the snowboard trip a really good swell hit Hawaii. And I would not have wanted to miss it!
Along with all the surfing, I've been able to spend a bit of time training and focusing on my fitness! I am feeling really strong and I can feel it in my surfing, which feels great!

I had a trip this month to Phoenix, Arizona. I was there for an orthodontist convention, the Damon Forum. ha ha, yeah of all things an orthodontist convention!!! I'm endorsing a company, Damon Braces, who's product I used when I was about 14. At the time I was a thankful to be given free braces by a lovely family in California. My teeth were really crooked and, financially, my family could not afford braces. So it was quite a blessing to have been able to correct my smile, free of charge, with the best product!
Being away from the ocean, I was able to play tennis in Phoenix with my mom. fun fun fun! My mom and I love the ball machine! Good way of keeping active while traveling!
After Arizona, my mom and I headed to California I spoke at a church called VantagePoint, which was awesome!Click Here for video

Then we headed to Palm Springs where my grandma lives. Spending time with my grandma was the highlight of the trip! Grandma is hilarious! I don't know how to explain it but she really makes me laugh!
She is also a very talented artist. I forgot how good she was until I got to her house and saw all the amazing paintings she has done recently! Wish I had inherited her artistic skills; but I appreciate her talent!
I stopped in Oahu on my way home from California
and went to the NFL Pro Bowl welcome reception luau. It was rad to share a bit of surfing with the football players! I did have a little DRAMA though. Can't say this is a complete newsletter with out mentioning Tim Tebow.
So I have a little celebrity crush on Tim Tebow! I have not met him but I just follow him on twitter and know a little about him. I admire his love for Christ and leadership ability. He seems sweet.
I kind of just joked about having a crush on him and somehow it got out of hand and ended up on NFL's news and Transworld Surf's news.
...I reap what I sow! Got a lot of laughs out of it though!
I definitely believe God has someone special for me. I just want to honor Him and patiently wait for that special someone. Can't wait! (haha, not so patient)
I've only dated one person.
I haven't kissed anyone!
I'm really glad with my choices and don't feel the need to rush anything.
Enough of the gushy stuff....

I also went to the Pro Bowl game with my brother Noah and dad; we had a great time! Surfing and football are complete opposites! I was a mermaid lost in the crowd and stuck in the grass, ha!
To finish this really long newsletter; the highlight of my month!
I moved out of my parents house!
It was a lot of work to move out (I have way too many clothes... Got to get rid of some...). But
I'm really looking forward to getting out on my own and just learning more about myself. So far it has been awesome. My parents still live five minutes away so I see them all the time!
Oh, AND I figured out my 2012 resolution: I'm gonna do my best to read the entire Bible. So far so gooood!
Happy 2012!
Love, Bethany
